Kinja'd!!!

My biz partners’ other company, Aggregate Watches, teamed up with Adapt. Clothing to make this fidget spinner of a carabiner keyring. I did a quick render/animation of it yesterday, which I’m mostly happy with, though if I had more time to finesse the motion, I’d be happier with it. (Allowed to show it— it’ll be on sale next week)

Animation is fun. I wish I got to do more of it. Looks 100% better in gif form on my laptop than my phone, so I’ll probably have to do some conversion. Any of you gifmasters out there have any tips?

Abandon gif, use webm or mp4. Gif compression is painful and most web browsers support webm.

Good advice. Thanks. I went from the avi output, and converted to gif in-browser. Loses a ton of color.

Any idea what it will cost? I have an abundance of keys now (used to have none) and something like this would be perfect.

Kinja won’t accept those formats though. You’re stuck with uploading GIFs or embedding a  YouTube, Vimeo, etc. video.

Funny thing is, one you upload a GIF, Kinja likes to automatically turn it into a MP4. You just can’t upload in that format for some reason.

Looks good, although I can see what you mean about wanting to improve the movement. It looks like the key rings follow a preset path without any physics involved, but ain’t nobody got time for that.

What the others say about WebM is correct. It’s one of the reasons why Giphy converts GIFs to WebM. It also gives a better color space - GIF is limited to a 256-color palette per tile/layer .

That’s neat! No chance of the individual rings slipping out when the latch is opened.

I think they’ll retail for $28.

I looked at the watches and really like the style. However, I don't need any more

Yeah, when all you’ve got is a day... you gotta go with what you’ve got.

Yeah, they’ve worked really hard and built a great product, but it’s not my style, and I don’t have one, either.

Yeah, I think that’s the point of it. Wouldn’t carry it, myself, but, hey. I know a lot of dudes (and they’re all dudes) who clip shit with a carabiner every day.

Ah great! One more thing to occupy the attention of students already running a deficit in that department.
